Adapted from an inspirational Zen Koan, Onami: The Great Wave is the heart-warming tale of a young boy who, with the help of good friends, is able to overcome his fears and become a great champion.
This is the third collaboration from the author/illustrator team of Nathan Sterner and Shelly Dutchak. Long time admirers of the Japanese Koans, they sought to create a work that would compliment the beauty and simplicity of these short Buddhist teachings. They chose the tale of Onami as the first installment of what hopes to be a long running series.
For a limited time this book comes complete with the award winning, animated DVD version of the story. Created exclusively for this title by the author and illustrator, the animated version brings the story to life with the same vibrance and excitement as the book through the unique process of stop-motion animation. The creators feel this will provide a fantastic shared reading and interactive experience between parent and child.
